Meet Jeff Akerson, Photographer and retired Chef. Jeff will be presenting "The Old Schoolhouse" to the town of Philipsburg during the Art & Jazz Show on August 19.

" The old high school is part of American history it deserves to be put in slate and will be there for the grand-kids and beyond to see," said Jeff.

Akerson was looking for a different medium to present his photographs and that is how putting images on slate became his speciality.

Montana is Jeff's home and enjoys living here; traveling and cooking are his passions. Akerson grew up in Exeter, New Hampshire and his love is photography. He has traveled the USA cooking and taking pictures for 25 years.

"I come from a small New England town and I love small town America, the breathe taking landscape in Philipsburg, the cute city center in town, remind me of home." said Akerson. Jeff is a rock hound by heart, he loves finding gems on weekends adventures so this mining town is perfect.

I love being outside in nature," said Jeff. Yellowstone National Park is his place of rest and enjoyment. He has lived in Hawaii off and on. He was introduced to Hawaii while in the Navy in the late 70's.
